"I’m a geek. I’m a writer. I spent all of my time in my childhood obsessing about Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Who. I was alone, I was an outsider — what do you expect? I was that bullied kid at the back of the class weeping for loneliness. I don’t think, generally speaking, people become writers because they were the really good, really cool, attractive kid in class. I’ll be honest. This is our revenge for people who were much better looking and more popular than us. I was a bit like that, I suppose."

Steven Moffat

TV writer and producer Steven Moffat specializes in injecting new life into old, familiar characters and stories.

“KAREN, I LOVE YOU. MATT, I WANT TO MARRY YOU. MOFFAT, COULD YOU PUT YOUR HEAD DOWN A BIT?”

"Don’t you think my life is confusing enough? And listen, if John Simm could hear you, you would not live another hour. He came up to me after the press [junket] for the End of Time where he’d been saying ‘I think now that David has left as The Doctor, I would have to leave as The Master’ but then he pulled me aside and said ‘I didn’t mean that! And look at me, I’m fit! I’m OK!’ So Benedict has to wait in line probably. But how confusing would it be? All four cheekbones at once! I tell you, I stood between [Matt Smith and Benedict] in a photograph once. It’s a really good way to look extra ugly."

Oh, Moffat, you precious thing. I love you.

  • Everyone: SEXIST!

So…The God Complex, Amy’s Faith, the Doctor’s Fate

martinusmiraculorum:

Not crying, but definitely shaking with emotions. This is unquestionably one of the most thematically and emotionally charged episodes of NuWho, and in my humble opinion, it’s all done pretty damn well.

The God Complex is fast becoming my favorite episode of the season (even edging out The Doctor’s Wife *gasp*) and reading this only reaffirmed my beliefs. *rimshot* I’ll be here all night!

whoniverseconfessions:

‘I get frustrated when half the fandom jumps on the “Benedict Cumberbatch as the next Doctor” bandwagon. He’s already basically *playing* the Doctor. Moffat writes Eleven and Sherlock the exact same way: almost pathologically socially awkward yet brilliant ramblers. The same character stretched across 2 tv shows. I wish fandom would wake up sometimes.’

…And then there’s the Moffat quote describing Sherlock as a Human trying to be a God and the Doctor as a God trying to be a Human.
