i love how stupid the apostles were

jesus constantly said vague stuff like “tear this temple down and i’ll rebuild it in three days” but on palm sunday when they were going back to jerusalem he literally just told them straight out “listen dudes when we get there they’re going to kill me soon but I’m going to come back in like 3 days” and they were like “HAHAHAHAHA very funny jesus” and he was like

oh my gosh

You know how in Star Wars they say “May the Force be with you”

Does anyone else automatically think/say ”And also with you” ?

Yes definitely a catholic thing :)

except now it’d be “And with your Spirit”

I’m Catholic and here’s what I believe…

randomestduckeva:

ambotherambo:

  • In God/Jesus (makes sense right?)
  • The separation of church and state (Not everyone is Christian!)
  • I’m pro- choice. And by the by, being pro-choice doesn’t automatically mean I’m pro-abortion.
  • I believe a woman should have the right to do what she wants with her body.
  • Until a man can become pregnant, he really shouldn’t have much say in the birth control discussion.
  • I believe women should have more prominent roles in my church.
  • I’m straight, religious, and I support gay marriage because I support civil (HUMAN) rights. This should not be a religious issue.
  • Any union of LGBT couples does not weaken my heterosexual relationships in any shape or form. If you believe it does, then your relationship wasn’t very sturdy to begin with, now was it?!
  • While I would do everything in my power to not get a divorce, I believe that sometimes love doesn’t last and people should not be forced to stay in situations that make them unhappy.
  • I don’t personally think the Bible should be taken literally because taking it literally means we understand it completely. But I would oh so enjoy meeting someone that thinks they understand it completely.
  • Religious conviction is a personal choice, not to be flaunted or be made to alienate people. And it’s okay to NOT have one at all or be in conflict with my own.

No religion is perfect because at its core, it’s run by people.  And people can be awful and misinterpret a great many things.  But I just wanted to let you know that it is possible to be religious and have these thoughts.

And I’ll probably get it, but if anyone tries to tell me that any of the above beliefs makes me any less Catholic, I’ll just have to demand that you go back to your cave of ignorance. We’re taught to love everyone, right? Who am I to judge?!

This. Just pretty much all of this.

This is Rachid Nekkaz, the French businessman who announced he will pay all fines for women who are charged with wearing the niqab — not just in France but “in whatever country in the world that bans women from doing so”.
The niqab is a filmy cloth attached to the headscarf that covers all but the eyes. Any woman found to be wearing the niqab in France in public can be fined upto  ($200) and ordered to attend ‘re-education classes’. Belgium, Italy, Denmark, Austria, the Netherlands and Switzerland all have — or are planning — similar legislation.
The businessman has already paid fines for women in both France and Belgium where wearing the piece of cloth is outlawed. He said:

I’m in favour of a law to convict a husband who forces a women to wear the niqab and who forces her to stay at home. But I’m also for a law that lets these women move freely in the streets, because freedom of movement, just like any freedom, is the most fundamental thing in a democracy.

He is pictured above with Kenza Drider, the longshot “freedom candidate” for French presidency, after accompanying her to a police tribunal in Paris where she appeared for violating France’s niqab ban. Drider told The Associated Press in an interview:

When a woman wants to maintain her freedom, she must be bold. I have the ambition today to serve all women who are the object of stigmatization or social, economic or political discrimination. It is important that we show that we are here, we are French citizens and that we, as well, can bring solutions to French citizens.

Nekkaz put up a m ($2.5m) property to fund his campaign.

Christmas is a PAGAN not a Christian festival.

in-her-hips-theres-revolutions:

nerdfighterducky:

Christmas is a PAGAN not a Christian festival.

damnitdisney:

inherhipstheresrevolutions:

  • Christmas is a PAGAN not a Christian festival.
  • The 25th December was celebrated in ancient days as the birthday of the unconquerable SUN god, (variously know as Tammuz, Mithra, Saturn, Adonis or BAAL) centuries before Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem.
  • Nowhere in the Bible are believers in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob required to celebrate Christmas.
  • The early Christian church did not celebrate Christmas. Instead it celebrated the sacred festivals mentioned in the Bible, in Leviticus chapter 23.
  • In order to win Gentile converts to the Christian faith, the Roman Church, centuries after the apostolic era, adopted this ancient pagan winter festival of the SUN god and renamed it ‘Christmas’ mistakenly thinking that it would honour the SON of God.
  • Scholars have for centuries known these facts. They can be confirmed in any reference library.

THANK YOU! I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO POST THIS! I went on a wild rant the other day about how Christmas was a “stolen” holiday.

Yes it may be, but you all need to respect others even if even if they don’t respect you, because I respect you and I feel like you aren’t respecting me.

No one’s disrespecting you by educating themselves about the origins of Christmas traditions.

I posted this to show the true history behind the event. Not just the biased, biblical version that we all know so well.

I find it interesting to learn about things from different aspects.
Learning is not disrespectful, no one has slandered you or your religion (not that I’vse seen anyway, I certainly haven’t and I was the original poster), all I have done is post an alternative historical view of Christmas time.

Also, Christians based their whole “Son of God” belief system on an ancient Pagan belief too. I just think that side of this time should also be told, seeing as it’s hyped up to be the celebration of the birth of Jesus, even though that idea was also stolen.

Each to their own though :). This information was just rather eye-opening!

Kinda hard to have shepherds out in the fields in the northern hemisphere during December. So they co-opted a holiday long ago to appear mainstream and gain followers. If you were a struggling religion fighting for survival, you’d probably do something similar.

Even though I know His birthday isn’t 12/24/1 I’m still going to take time the next two days and celebrate it anyway.

It restores my faith to see so many Christians stand up against Rick Perry’s homophobic statements.

pelletwiththepoison:

It is comforting to know that there are other Christians out there who believe in actually living out God’s word based on what it actually says and means—love, acceptance and mission—rather than what it speaks out AGAINST—hate, bigotry, intolerance.
