Woke up this morning

and I wasn’t sure what was a dream and what was reality. Things that happened were remembered as dreams and things that were dreamt were remembered as reality. Weird.

“I feel worse at these times about apologizing for my faith because I don’t feel it’s something I should have to apologize for. However, amongst the young, hip urban set there are those who mistake an open mind and progressive attitudes with antiquated prejudices against religions they don’t understand. These are the people who wouldn’t bat an eye if I said I was Buddhist, because that would be appropriately New Age-y enough for them.” —http://www.bustedhalo.com/blogs/apologizing-for-my-catholicism-or-sometimes-lack-thereof

Because I missed it this morning.

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

“Stop judging and you will not be judged.
Stop condemning and you will not be condemned.
Forgive and you will be forgiven.
Give and gifts will be given to you;
a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing,
will be poured into your lap.
For the measure with which you measure
will in return be measured out to you.”

Luke 6: 36-38

“Right now, my thoughts are with the engineers at Fukushima Daiichi. Tokyo Electric has pulled all nonessential workers from the plant, and the men and women who remain, battling catastrophe, will probably all die. To do a job—and a nonmilitary one, at that—with the knowledge that you are saving your country and sacrificing your own life is an extraordinary thing. I am thinking of them, thanking them for their work, and hoping that they can be successful.” —Henry, who I’ve known since I was 2, reports on the uneasy calm in Kansai, Japan. (via nickfountain)

For the people who really experience this:

Depression is not an act.

Eating disorders aren’t simply adolescent phases.

Suicide isn’t an escape route for cowards.

Homosexuality isn’t a disease or a choice.

Self-Infliction is not a cry for attention.

Stop acting like you know everything. Truth is? You don’t know shit.

Truth.

Lent means that

skipping breakfast intentionally is fasting.

gathering up change to put in a ricebowl is almsgiving.

and spending more time alone is opening up for prayer.
